Grower Relations Manager (Northern California)

Overview:
A premier tree nut processor in the Sacramento Valley seeks a Grower Relations Manager at their state of the art processing facility.  This position will play a key role in the sourcing of walnuts from outside growers and will be the link between the organization and the grower base.  The position will be responsible for communicating the value that the organization brings to the grower and ensuring that those values are delivered and realized.

Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and deliver strategic and tactical recruitment plans that result in expansion of the company’s tonnage from both existing and new grower base.
  2. Evaluation of orchard conditions and recommendations to growers for improvement, including insights on harvest timing.
  3. Effectively relay pertinent business information to growers including market, facility, and crop conditions.
  4. Evaluate and manage all grower contracts and agreements.
  5. Plan, coordinate, and execute all communication efforts by the organization to its existing and emerging outside grower community.
  6. Develop annual receiving projections.
  7. Conceptualize and coordinate various services that the organization may provide to its grower base.
  8. Network within the industry and serve as the company’s representative in various industry organizations and functions.
  9. Contribute cross-functionality to the greater management team.
  10. Play a key role in shaping company grower payment methodologies, including premium/assessment schedules.
  11. Assist CEO in communicating progress payments to growers.
  12. Perform evaluations of the local and statewide competitive tree nut environment so that the organization can stay abreast of best practices and not be seen as a fast follower.

Requirements:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy, Agri-Business, or related discipline.
  2. Five to seven years’ experience in the tree nut industry, with emphasis on grower relations.
  3. Demonstrated strong aptitude in interpersonal skills, including communication, teamwork, and leadership.
  4. Possess general knowledge of walnut crop base.
  5. Ability to teach and coach peers, superiors, and others.
  6. Knowledge of California agriculture and plant operations.
  7. Demonstrated problem-solving/cognitive skills.

Compensation:
This position offers a competitive salary depending on qualifications and experience. In addition, compensation includes:
