Senior Accountant (Tulare, CA)

Overview:
A growing family owned dairy farm and milk processing company in Tulare, CA, seeks a Senior Accountant.  This position would be responsible for the full scope of accounting with duties including general ledger accountability, month-end close, reporting and analysis, inventory valuation, and preparation for audits.  This key role will assist the CFO in maintaining the integrity of financial information and systems of all entities within the organization, provide leadership and coordination in the accounting, reporting, budgeting, and efforts of the company, coordinate payroll, purchasing, and cash management. 

Responsibilities include:

  1. Prepare accurate and timely financial statements.  Ensure accurate and timely preparations of reports to comply with external stakeholders requirements.
  2. Prepare reliable, meaningful, relevant analytics to assess and explain variances between actual results compared to budgets, forecasts, and prior periods.
  3. Develop and maintain inventory valuation processes and procedures to provide reliable inventory costing.
  4. Implement and maintain fixed assets accounting system, as well as provide accurate depreciation and disposition calculations.  Maintain and evaluate financial controls and systems of the company.
  5. Assist in development of the annual departmental budgets.
  6. Assist CFO in establishing and maintaining efficient, centralized, properly controlled processes and systems for payroll and timekeeping, and purchasing and payables. 
  7. Perform cost control activities, research, large database summary reporting, and tracking and supporting schedules. 
  8. Review work of accounting personnel for completeness, accuracy, and compliance.
  9. Analyze changes in product design, raw materials, manufacturing methods, or services provided to determine effects on cost.
  10. Perform all duties related to payroll including monthly, quarterly, and annual payroll reporting.

Requirements include:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
  2. Three years’ experience in accounting, financial, or auditing work. 
  3. Knowledge of financial analysis and research procedures; ability to prepare clear and accurate financial reports; ability to analyze data and draw sound conclusions.
  4. Ability to interpret and apply financial policies and procedures.
  5. Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written.
  6. QuickBooks experience is required.
  7. Bilingual a plus.

Compensation:
This position offers a competitive salary depending on qualifications and experience. In addition, compensation includes:
