VP of Operations (Central CA)

Overview:
A leading supplier to the agriculture industry in California’s Central Valley is seeking a VP of Operations to be responsible for the successful and safe operation of all facilities.  The VP of Operations will provide direction and support to terminal managers in a 24/7 call out environment, be responsible for the efficient handling and delivery of product to customers, and oversee and maintain a safe and environmentally sound operation.  This position will develop the budget and build special projects as required for on-going operations and improvements to facilities, oversee truck and rail scheduling, and provide input to and be part of the executive management team. 

Responsibilities include:

  1. Support and direct terminal managers and operations in a post 9/11 security environment.
  2. Responsible for the design and construction of special projects.
  3. Understand existing operations and strive to improve existing efficiencies and capabilities.
  4. Maintain a safe and efficient operation.  Monitor safety and regulatory compliance programs.
  5. Assist terminal managers in trouble shooting operational problems.
  6. Responsible for the budgeting process for all operational departments.  Maintain and upgrade an terminal within budget constraints.
  7. Assist management team in strategic and operational planning.
  8. Responsible for inventory management, which includes, oversight and review of current inventories and projections of future demands to aid in long-term purchasing and scheduling.
  9. Responsibility for entirety of supply chain and board reporting on operations.

Requirements include:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.  MBA a plus.
  2. Business management background with hands-on experience with facilities operations.
  3. Basic knowledge of the chemical industry and experience with high risk and highly regulated products.
  4. Basic knowledge of accounting, cost accounting, and plant P&L’s.
  5. Project Management experience.
  6. Operations and negotiation experience in a union environment.
  7. Self-starter with skills in multi-tasking and problem solving.
  8. Ability to provide support and be a team player.  Flexible
  9. Professional level written and oral communication skills.
