3CORE

Collaborating With Others To Assist Small Local Businesses

CLIENT:

3CORE is a private nonprofit corporation working as an economic development district and a Community Development Financial Institution within California’s Butte, Glenn, and Tehama counties. 3CORE cultivates healthy businesses focusing on financing, mentoring, and perspective.

3CORE serves clients as a financial “go-between” for small businesses seeking needed capital. Serving as mentors to help small businesses obtain capital to help their businesses grow, 3CORE has unique access to a range of financial capital to match a business’s needs. 3CORE offers both formal and informal mentoring services unique to each situation offering tools and strategies for success. Additionally, 3CORE’s nonprofit status allows for a neutral perspective without selling clients products or services they don’t need.

THE OPPORTUNITY:

3CORE often collaborates with other consulting firms and businesses with additional technical expertise to fully address a client’s needs. Some of 3CORE’s mentorship clients have been in need of assistance with business planning and filling in gaps with financial analyses, which is where our first relationship with 3CORE began. Often times we will collaborate with 3CORE on projects or clients will be directly referred to us for our services in planning and feasibility, interim/outsource, and special projects.

THE RESULTS:

Morrison & Company has worked with serval clients, either collaborating with 3CORE or direct referrals from them. All of the clients have been local small businesses, including Girls with Guns (see their case study here), and are typically planning projects. Morrison & Company has also served on 3CORE’s grant committee, which awards $5,000-10,000 to small businesses.
