Multi National Japanese Corporation

Identifying Business Acquisitions

A well-known Japan-based multinational corporation sought US investment targets in one of its key industries but desired business intelligence before approaching a potential acquisition. They also did not want it known that they (or anyone else, for that matter) were seeking such acquisitions to avoid price spiking or preemptive strikes or competitive bids by other large industry players.

Morrison & Company was engaged to identify and research potential targets. Using publicly available information, our knowledge of the industry and its competitors, and other legitimate and verifiable information, we prepared an analysis of several possible acquisitions including their market positions, management and ownership structures and capabilities, facilities, likely financial considerations, and other key factors. The result was a roadmap used by the client to direct their investment decision.
