Helen Roberti presented CFBF Lifetime Service Award

Morrison had a great time at the California Farm Bureau Annual Meeting this past week and we were delighted to see Helen Roberti receive the organization’s inaugural Lifetime Service Award. We came to know the Roberti family when they hired us to write a Rural Energy for America grant proposal for a solar project to help offset electricity costs on their Sierra County hay and cattle ranch. The proposal was successful, and we had the opportunity to see the project’s ribbon cutting and meet the fabulous Roberti family.

Congrats Helen!

New Lifetime Service Award presented to Helen Roberti

Issue Date: December 11, 2013

For more than 50 years, Helen Roberti has served as secretary/manager of the Plumas-Sierra County Farm Bureau, representing and assisting farmers and ranchers in the two-county region. That legacy of service, plus her dedication to agricultural education, led the California Farm Bureau Federation to name her as the first recipient of its Lifetime Service Award.

Roberti received the award Monday at the CFBF Annual Meeting in Monterey.

The Lifetime Service Award recognizes dedicated service by a staff member of a county Farm Bureau in California or of CFBF.

"Helen's dedication to Farm Bureau and agriculture epitomizes the grassroots upon which our organization was founded," CFBF President Paul Wenger said. "In creating an award to honor Farm Bureau staff, we couldn't think of a more fitting person to be the first recipient."

Wenger announced that, in future years, the award will be known as the Helen Roberti Lifetime Service Award.

At the same time as she managed the county Farm Bureau, Roberti and her late husband, Elmer, operated a hay and cattle ranch in Sierra Valley, where three generations of the family now live and work. One of her three sons, David Roberti, serves as president of the Plumas-Sierra County Farm Bureau and as a member of the CFBF Board of Directors.

"She touches everyone she meets and always uses the time to educate and empower others about agriculture and agricultural issues," David Roberti said. "She loves educating youth, as well as their parents, and has contributed greatly to agriculture and agricultural education."
