House Passes Farm Bill
This morning, the US House of Representatives passed a comprehensive Farm Bill, with the legislation set to go the Senate next week for a vote.
The Farm Bill is federal legislation that authoriizes funding for a number of programs, including crop insurance and food stamps. Many of the grant programs that we work with at Morrison are also funded through the Farm Bill, which is why we have paid close attention to the matter.
The last farm bill was passed in 2008, and expired in 2012. It was extended for one year, but expired again in September 2013. Negotiations have been ongoing since. We're looking forward to a Senate vote next week!
