Morrison helps clients secure $1.7 million in VAPGs

USDA Rural Development

This morning the USDA announced the successful recipients of the Value Added Producer Grants program and all of the applications Morrison helped our clients submit were awarded!

In total, we were able to assist seven different California agribusinesses in securing more than $1.7 million in federal grant dollars. The funding will help our clients introduce new products to the market or expand current products into new markets. All of the projects will help these clients expand their businesses, and create additional jobs in agriculture to benefit the entire state economy.

Nationwide, $40 million was awarded to 298 recipients in 44 states through this extremely competitive grant program. Funds may be used for feasibility studies or business plans, working capital for marketing value-added agricultural products and for farm-based renewable energy projects.

Eligible applicants include independent producers, farmer and rancher cooperatives, agricultural producer groups, and majority-controlled producer-based business ventures.

The application period for the next Value Added Producer Grant program is expected to open this spring, so keep an eye out on our blogs for more information.
