Challenges
After a long and ongoing relationship with Morrison's Interim/Outsource and Grants teams, TBF contacted Morrison’s People Solutions team for a Human Resources assessment. In light of a changing environment and their growth and expansion of operations, TBF wished to proactively ensure that they were implementing the most productive human resources protocols and complying with applicable laws and regulations.
Solutions
The assessment began with a review of files and policies followed by an on-site evaluation to review TBF’s current practices. Random samples were selected for review and in-person interviews with TBF’s Human Resources team were conducted. In addition to checking for compliance, the company’s management and HR practices were evaluated in light of “best practices” to assess company culture.
Successes
Morrison developed an 18 page report outlining TBF’s current practices with a comparison to state and federal standards. We also provided recommendations on a three-tiered priority level scale for improvement. The report was presented in person to ownership and management; implementation began shortly after, with follow-up assessments by Morrison planned and scheduled to measure progress and assist with implementation issues. TBF was provided a snapshot of what was working well and needed improvements, including those necessary to ensure regulatory compliance. The tools provided by Morrison included protocols and procedures for new systems to catch reoccurring errors, a strategy for preventative measures to ensure policy compliance, efficient practices for setting up new employees, and implementation of improvements in company culture to help become a premier employer able to attract and retain quality personnel.
